Bradley received his Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006. He then went on to pursue a PhD in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley, where he focused on machine learning and distributed systems. His dissertation, "Parallel algorithms and software for large-scale data processing", was supervised by Michael Franklin and Ion Stoica.
After completing his PhD in 2011, Bradley joined Databricks, a company co-founded by the creators of Apache Spark, as a research scientist. At Databricks, Bradley worked on the design and implementation of Spark, which quickly became one of the most popular data processing engines in the world. He also co-founded MLflow, an open-source machine learning platform, and contributed to other projects in the Spark ecosystem, including GraphX and Spark SQL.
In addition to his work at Databricks, Bradley is also an active contributor to the open-source community. He has authored numerous research papers and articles on machine learning and distributed systems, and has spoken at conferences and events around the world.
In recognition of his contributions to the field of data analytics and distributed systems, Bradley has received several prestigious awards and honors, including the ACM SIGKDD Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2012, the SIGMOD Best Paper Award in 2015, and the IEEE TCDE Rising Star Award in 2016.
Today, Bradley continues to work at Databricks as a Senior Director of Data Science and leads the company's efforts in research and development of machine learning and distributed systems. His work has had a profound impact on the field of data analytics, and he is widely recognized as one of the most influential computer scientists of his generation.
